Ron Malanosky

I am Ron Malanosky and my wife Joan and I are Landscape Co-Chairs for the San Juan Hills East Block 1 HOA. Our HOA has 23 homes on a large residential block in San Juan Capistrano. In Jan ’16 we contracted with Don Holder and his Conserv Inc. company to remove our two obsolescent WeatherTrak controllers and replace them with updated “Smart” models with many enhanced features. In the year since then we have found them far more transparent, easy to program and very effective in helping us conserve irrigation water during the current drought. Our water consumption for the year has averaged out to only about 60% of our water supplier mandated drought limits. And our landscaping looks as good as it ever has. Mr. Holder and his company were very efficient in replacing the old controllers, doing the initial programming and helping us resolve the few issues that arose during the past year.

I live in a 43 acre, 62 home HOA complex. I was given the task to find and coordinate total replacement of all existing turf and shrub heads which numbered in the thousands. This project also included replacing faulty controllers and well as planting several acres of drought resistant plants and shrubs using an underground drip system. Our main emphasis was to reduce our water usage thru conservation. We met with several different landscape contractors, but Don Holder’s presentation and promise to us stood out over the others. Mr Holder has many years of landscape/water conservation experience which has enabled to him to have numerous contacts with city, county and state agencies and well as all local water municipalities. This in addition to the companies that manufacture the product were paramount in our selection of Mr Holder. The project was completed in every instance that Mr. Holder said it would be. Our association is very pleased and proud of how the complex looks and would highly recommend Don Holder.

We recently had a Smart Controller installed at our address by ConServ. Don Holder of ConServ handled the installation which went very smoothly. The original times were removed and the new controller was installed in a proficient and timely manner. We’ve been very happy with the new controller. It has performed well and we are looking forward to this winter when it should perform even better if we have another rainy season. The dedication to customer service provided by Don Holder has been outstanding! He has come by and checked on the system to make adjustments when necessary. Our neighbors have inquired about the Smart Controller and we have given ConServ and Don Holder a glowing recommendation. In the future if we need anything related to irrigation we will definitely call Don Holder of ConServ.

ConServ, Inc. worked closely with our Board of Directors to complete a major retrofit of our 62 HOA front lawns, shrub beds, islands and significant common-area slopes. They also landscaped two focal points in our neighborhood, much to the delight of all owners. The company employees and its owner, Don Holder were extremely knowledgeable and experienced, walking us through all of the various rebate programs available at the time and making effective purchases from product suppliers on our behalf. They were also very good in communicating with our mostly elderly owners regarding scheduling while the work was underway. We have been very happy with all aspects of their work, from planning to installation to post completion follow-up.
